Quick answer: The simplest way to send a rakhi to India from the USA, UK, Canada or Australia is to order online from an Indian store like PhotoJewels and enter your brother's Indian address at checkout — the Photo Projection Rakhi (from ₹1,499) is made in India and delivered to his door, no international courier needed. For Rakhi on Friday, August 28, 2026, place orders for delivery within India by mid-August; for delivery to an address outside India, order by August 12.
There's a specific ache to festival season abroad. The family group fills with mehendi photos and mithai boxes, the video call gets scheduled around time zones, and you're eleven thousand kilometres from the one ritual that has never skipped a year of your life.
You can't teleport home for Rakhi 2026. But you can make sure the rakhi on your brother's wrist that morning is one you chose — with a photo of the two of you hidden inside it.
The smart way: order in India, deliver in India
Most NRI sisters default to international courier: buy a rakhi locally in New Jersey or London, post it to India, pray it clears customs before August 28. It's expensive, slow and risky in festival season.
The better route reverses it. Order from an Indian D2C brand online, pay with your international card, and put your brother's (or parents') Indian address in the shipping field. The rakhi never crosses a border — it's crafted in India and delivered domestically. No customs, no ₹4,000 courier fee, no tracking anxiety.
Best Bro Photo Projection Rakhi — ₹1,499
Upload a childhood photo of you two from wherever you are in the world. We enhance it, set it inside the rakhi's stone, and deliver to his door in India — with your gift message, no invoice in the box.
Customise →Why a photo rakhi hits different across a distance
When you live abroad, your brother doesn't miss your gifts — he misses you. A courier-pack rakhi says "I remembered the date." A rakhi carrying the photo of you two on the terrace in 2009 says "I remember everything." It's the closest thing to being there: during the video-call aarti, he looks at his wrist — and you're in the frame. Literally.

Rakhi 2026 cutoff dates for NRIs
Ordering from abroad, delivering within India: order by mid-August 2026. Photo rakhis are made to order, and festival-season logistics get heavy in the final week — earlier is always safer.
Delivering to an address outside India (a sister in India sending to her brother in Toronto, for example): order by August 12, 2026 to allow for international transit.
Cutting it fine? Order the rakhi to your parents' home — Mummy ties it on your behalf during the video call. It's a surprisingly emotional workaround.
Celebrating the muhurat across time zones
The 2026 rakhi-tying muhurat is 5:57 AM – 9:48 AM IST on Friday, August 28 — which lands on Thursday evening, August 27 for North America (roughly 8:30 PM–12:15 AM Eastern) and Friday afternoon for Australia. Schedule the video call inside that window, have the rakhi tied on camera, and watch him discover the photo inside. Details in the full Rakhi 2026 muhurat guide.
